A chinese lantern was invented by the Chinese around 2000 years ago to send messages to other Generals during battles. Today Chinese celebrate the New Year (January 15th) by launching thousands of Lanterns into the nights sky. Loved by the people of the Far East, its only recently that the lanterns have gained popularity in Europe. Since coming to the UK in the mid 1990′s the lanterns have become more and more popular. Since they are so popular, todays lantern makers offer a large range of colours and shapes. Whatever the occasion your celebrating, like a wedding or a birthday then there is a lantern to suit. If your planning a party for a soccer mad teenager why not choose a soccer ball shaped lantern. All lanterns are designed to be let off at night time which will give the user the best results. Todays lanterns are eco-friendly and are made of enviromentally friendly materials. Childrens should not be allowed to let a lantern off and should not be allowed to light one.
